Every year it starts over, I want to be a writer. Every year I get on the band wagon, read my books, come up with a story line then suddenly, poof, I lose interest. I don’t know why it happens, it just does. But this year is different, I hope. I’ve learned a few tricks in the past 6 months – how to think.
With all the articles and books and websites on writing, all of them speak from an artistic point. Not too many of those resources describe writing on a technical level. So I thought, this year I’ll start a novel, start a blog and share what I learn as I attempt to write my first novel.
I’m currently 5000+ words into it, which is great. My goal is to reach between 100,000 and 160,000 words which is somewhere between a novella and short novel.

I had/have the same problem. So this year I decided to write something everyday, just simply write it on my blog and then fix it. Let the story grow. I have some ideas of where it is going and who the major characters are, but above all else I am writing. I’ll see what happens next.
Good luck.
